Abstract

Analysis of students' abilities in completing final exams in biology subjects for the 2018/2019 academic year class XII IPA at SMA 08 in Seluma district. Analysis of High School Biology UAS Questions. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) type of item. The subjects in this study were Biology UAS High School DI SMA N 08 Seluma in 2018/2019. The research instrument used an assessment sheet. The results showed that almost all (92.5%) of the UAS questions were HOTS type. Almost all of the characteristics of the UAS items (97.3%) were in accordance with the indicators of competency attainment. Half of the stimuli used in the problem are pictures, while a small part are diagrams, tables, examples and less than half are fragments of cases. Characteristics of questions Critical thinking is 85%, less than half of which are indicators of focusing on questions. The characteristics of problem solving are only 24.31%, a fraction of which is an indicator of identifying the problem of magnitude, identifying unsuitable problems and solving problems based on data and problems
