Development Strategy for Snakehead Fish (Channa striata) Albumin Agroindustry in South Kalimantan: SWOT Analysis and IE Matrix
Abstract
Snakehead fish albumin is a product based on South Kalimantan fishery resources that has the potential to be developed as a value-added agro-industrial product, but its development still faces various strategic obstacles. This study aims to formulate a strategy for developing snakehead fish albumin through an analysis of internal and external factors using the SWOT approach combined with the IFAS, EFAS, and IE matrices. The study used a descriptive analytical method with data collection through interviews, observations, and questionnaires to relevant stakeholders. Approximately 250 respondents were involved, including producers and MSME actors, representatives of government and technical institutions, private-sector actors, and other stakeholders within the selected institutional network in South Kalimantan. The analysis results show an IFAS value of 2.87 and an EFAS value of 2.76, which places the development of snakehead fish albumin in Cell V of the IE Matrix. This condition indicates an average internal position and a medium external position. The development strategy is directed at strengthening supply stability, product quality, production efficiency, and selective market development. This research provides a conceptual contribution through the integration of SWOT analysis and IE Matrix in formulating strategies for developing local resource-based agro-industrial products, while also providing an applied science context that integrates biological resources, production systems, stakeholder assessment, and evidence-based decision-making relevant to science learning and fisheries processing education.
